How Solstice
Was Formed
-
The Beginning
The very beginning of Solstice
began one night when Lee Hull and Anthony Andrews met at their cousins
21st Birthday party, Lee and Anthony started talking about the passion
they both have for music,
So they both decided to get together one night after work to have a
jam.
Anthony went to Lees one night
after work and he took a friend with him who also played the guitar,
Lee showed them some of the material that he was going to record at
a studio in the next few weeks.
So one of the songs Lee showed them was called It’s Not How
I Imagined Love To Be.
Anthony really enjoyed the
song and started to write a bass line to it, Lee said to Anthony that
he liked
the bass line he had wrote to the song and said that he could see a
future in music between them both.
Next in line was Callum Hull and
this is because when Lee went to record his solo E.P. He asked Callum
to
record an accompanying guitar piece over the rhythm on one of Lees tracks.
Callums little extra guitar part made a difference and it sounded amazing
which really impressed
Lee, so Lee told Callum that he wanted him to join the band. Callum
accepted Lees offer and joined Solstice.
But Anthonys friend (Lead Guitarist) didn't like the fact that Callum
had joined the band so he left.
So Callum joined the band and took the position of lead guitarist.
As always there is Ups and Downs
in a band and things were going really well but that was all about
to end when all of a sudden arguments start to occur between the drummer
and each member of the band.
Everyone sat down to work out why these arguments were occurring, after
a while they
all agreed to start scouting for a new drummer so Lee started to ask
around.
Now some people said "I'll see mate" and others "I'm
not interested sorry."
Anyway Callum (Lees Brother) was
in a school production around this time so Lee went along but
not just to show Callum some
support and watch him perform but also to see what the drummer for the
show was like.
The name of the drummer for the school production was Steven Marsh who
was amazing drummer and
all Lee could think about was how well Steven and Callum both played
and sounded through out the night.
So Lee took his chance and went and spoke to Steven about joining the
band (Solstice) that was nearly complete.
After hearing Stevens drumming Lee went and spoke to the rest of the
band about the asking the drummer the band already
had to leave, because the drummer kept causing arguments and breaking
up friendships between the band.
So therefore the drummer
left and that is when Steven joined Solstice.
Anyway the things between Solstice now are new and improved and ever
since the members of Solstice have
been proud to be in the same band as each other.
As everyone else Solstice have
experienced the highs and the lows.
The name for the band was thought
of by the Band Manager Andrew Pugh
who suggested to call the band Solstice as one night when they were
practicing it was the night after the Summer Solstice.
